Break the Cycle Campaign

Philly has one of the highest smoking rates among large US cities. To make matters worse, tobacco retailers have a high concentration of advertising in low-income and communities of color, which creates a cycle of smoking in families through generations.

Break the Cycle is the first campaign of its type in Philadelphia designed to empower community members to fight against the impact of big tobacco. We believe saying “don’t smoke” is not enough. The cycle of family smoking stops when you take your power and spread the word about the harm of smoking.

“Today’s teenager is tomorrow’s potential regular customer and the overwhelming majority of smokers first begin to smoke while in their teens.” ~ Phillip Morris USA Research Center*
