Keeping communities safe from flavored vapes

This is an excellent op-ed by Lincoln Mondy, on the devastating impact that menthol cigarettes have had on Black communities, and the connection to the current battle over flavored vaping products. In Philadelphia, we’re taking steps toward ensuring that no other young people become addicted to flavored nicotine products, by restricting the sale flavored e-cigarettes and vape pods – including those with menthol flavor – from stores that sell to kids. There is much more to be done to repair the injustices and harms of the tobacco industry, and this is one step to protect the public’s health, and our children in particular.

For more, check out Mondy’s film Black Lives / Black Lungs for a history lesson on how Big Tobacco targeted African Americans with their menthol products for decades.
